We were asked to address one element of the People Strategy, "to develop world class leadership". After getting the senior leadership to define what was meant by this we identified three operational levels where help was needed. We developed a framework for leadership development and three distinct but related interventions. The results of all three was more clarity about expectations, more direct and open conversations about performance and more clarity about the difference between leadership challenges and strategic direction and operational management and performance management.
Take the Lead, an e-enabled resource that blended face to face workshops with a self directed suite of resources aimed at staff at all levels.
The Next Step, an action learning process lasting 6 – 12 months. This was designed to work with teams using their experience and daily work as data to use in a real time, dynamic way to raise their awareness to their effectiveness and potential development needs.
Enterprise leadership, a dialogue based process aimed at encouraging the top 50 leaders to examine their enterprise leadership roles and to encourage them to have open and honest conversations about what mattered to them and to the organisation.
